Searching Information:
P-Pod features a simple but also powerful search engine. Each image has a Title and Description, which in the case of
plants corresponds to the Latin and Common names. Additionally a number of keywords describing the image have been added, these include both physical characteristics and more abstract concepts about the image.
All of these fields are searched for the terms you enter and the results are sorted by relevance.
Matching:
Currently there are two options to how the terms entered are searched for.
"All" requires each image to have every term entered to be displayed. It will obviously return fewer results.
"Any" requires each image to only have one or more of the terms entered to be returned. It will return more results
and is sorted by how relevant the image is to the search entered.
If the "all" matching option does not return any results we recommend searching again with "any" as the image you are looking for may well be returned due to slight spelling differences or differing naming conventions.
Plurals and different spellings:
Where possible the search engine deals with pluralisation and the differences in US and UK English. However if your search does not return any results then do consider whether any of the words could be shortened. Again, by selecting the "any" matching option the image you want may well appear.
